ELLEN FOREMAN

Ellen Foreman (16) is a sophomore at Kolbe Academy. She studies with Victor Rosenbaum at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, where she also participated in the A. Ramon Rivera Senior Piano Seminar. In addition, she studies with Peter Steigerwald in San Antonio, Texas.


She has won top prizes at the A. Ramon Rivera Piano Competition, Steinway and Sons Junior Competition, the Texas Public Radio Young Talent Competition, the Junior Tuesday Musical Club Competition, and the J.K. Hodges Contemporary Competition. She was also selected as the 2021 Adam’s Music House Fellowship Recipient and will present a lecture recital at the Drayer Mason Hall in Austin live on KMFA 89.5 in December. Additionally, she has taken masterclasses and lessons with several renowned pianists and pedagogues including Olga Kern, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Ingolf Wunder, Boris Slutsky, Simone Dinnerstein, Pavlina Dokovska, Jeffrey Cohen, Michael Lewin, Martin Labazevitch, John Owings, Roberto Poli, Chad Bowles, Washington Garcia, Bradley Bolen, Terry Lynn Hudson, Brian Marks, Jani Parsons, Jason Kwak, and Daria Rabotkina.


Ellen has performed in venues such as the Carnegie Hall, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, Ed Landreth Auditorium, PepsiCo Recital Hall, and the Kawai Piano Gallery. She has given solo recitals at nursing and retirement homes across Texas and has given virtual recitals for Adam’s Music House, CPC Thursday Noonday Concerts, and the MENSA Foundation.


In the past, Ellen has served on the Junior Jury of the Gurwitz International Piano Competition, participated in the Community Advisory Board of the IDEO x NEC Prep Research Design Project, and been featured as a performer in the Goethe-Institut Boston’s Beethoven Project. Last summer, Ellen founded Melody Alive Music, a student community project dedicated to sharing music through collaborative performance videos.


Ellen has attended the Texas State International Piano Festival, PianoTexas International Academy and Festival, Puerto Rico International Piano Festival, Baylor Summer Piano Institute, and Eastman Summer Classical Studies.


Outside of piano, she enjoys reading, composition, and mathematics. She is co-captain of the Spiritual Life Club, lead designer of the Newsletter Club, editor of the JTMC Newsletter, a board member of H.O.P.E (Harmonies of Pianists Everywhere), social media intern and newsletter editor at Musicale, and media assistant at the Catholic Servant Podcast. In the past, she has won state and national awards in mathematics, Latin, and essay writing. Ellen is a member of Duke TIP, Johns Hopkins CTY, and the MENSA Honor Society.
